An Evening With Shirley Ann Jackson Ph.D.

Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture

On December 14, 2017, President Shirley Ann Jackson, Ph.D. hosted an event at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture in Washington, D.C.  Over 300 alumni, alumnae, parents, students, and friends of the Institute attended. Following the reception and keynote address, which included a moving induction ceremony for civil rights trailblazer Lieutenant Commander Wesley Brown ’51 (1933-2014) into the Rensselaer Alumni Hall of Fame, guests were invited to explore the museum and its more than 36,000 artifacts dedicated to documenting a people’s journey, and a nation’s story.
