The Rensselaer Industrial Affiliates Program provides a mechanism for faculty and companies to build on existing corporate partnerships, create new collaborations, and explore potential research opportunities. Rensselaer faculty and students can learn about industry perspectives and priorities, and corporate members learn about new ideas and research directions.
Affiliates Programs follow the rules that govern gifts. Membership benefits do not include a statement of work, deliverables, or rights to intellectual property. Specific research relationships can be established through sponsored research agreements.As a top-tier technological research university, Rensselaer has invested in strategic partnerships, talented researchers, and sophisticated research platforms to address the most pressing global challenges of the 21st century. Today, the Rensselaer research enterprise comprises $104 million in annual research expenditures, supports a diverse range of research centers and platforms, and ensures the advancement of interdisciplinary research in five key areas:

Overview
The Rensselaer Industrial Affiliates Program (IAP) seeks to build mutually beneficial relationships between Rensselaer and industry worldwide. This program collaboration is coordinated at Rensselaer by Corporate Relations, Office of the Provost and Office for Research.
Goal
Membership
The Rensselaer IAP provides unprecedented access to some of the world’s most distinguished faculty members and researchers as well as talented students of the highest caliber. The Office of Corporate Relations will work directly with companies to create a customized plan that addresses strategic interests, and offers flexibility in terms of program design, structure, and duration. Top Tier Students
Rensselaer prides itself on attracting a geographically and socioeconomically diverse array of talented and deserving students including underrepresented minorities and women– without regard to their financial aid needs. Over 7,600 of the best and brightest students attend Rensselaer, hailing from states across the nation and from numerous countries around the world. Fifty-Five percent of Rensselaer undergraduate students graduated in the top 10 percent of their high school class, with an average SAT score of 1410. Through the Rensselaer IAP, the Institute provides access to students with a broad range of interdisciplinary strengths through recruiting events and collaborative research.

Rensselaer is home to world-class faculty that conduct research in a wide range of disciplines.
The faculty include members of the National Academies, 176 Fellows of professional societies, and 63 NSF CAREER Award recipients. Our faculty members include National Science Foundation Presidential Faculty Fellows, members of the National Academy of Engineering, the National Academy of Sciences, and other eminent professional organizations. Rensselaer’s distinguished faculty members work directly with students—doing research, solving problems, teaching, and interacting. Many of our professors have close ties with top global corporations and organizations.
Rensselaer faculty and alumni include more than 155 National Academy members, six members of the National Inventors Hall of Fame, six National Medal of Technology winners, five National Medal of Science winners, and a Nobel Prize winner in Physics.
