As we compete for the most talented students and faculty, it is crucial for RPI to offer them advanced classrooms and laboratories, residence halls, and recreational and support facilities.
Without question, RPI has a stunning campus in a beautiful setting on the hill above downtown Troy. However, many of our most picturesque structures are now more than a hundred years old. It is time to renovate and expand RPI’s built environment to accommodate new teaching methods, the demands of technology, and the sensitive instrumentation that keeps our research at the cutting edge.
RPI needs the physical capital that will allow our students and faculty to soar. For example, our Department of Computer Science and affiliated faculty must have new space to accommodate a growing number of students and faculty who are coming to RPI because of our leadership in computing. We will also create a new childcare center on our campus to provide critical childcare to our students and staff, and to grow the faculty body, as well as the surrounding community. We will renovate and enhance the Houston Field House to enable RPI to recruit top athletes and provide a world-class fan experience. Finally, many iconic buildings will require upgrades to their classrooms and laboratories to allow RPI to keep pace with technology and instructional pedagogy.
